Jodi is a postdoc exploring how young children learn from screen media, especially within the context of parent-child interaction. She earned her Ph.D. in Cognitive Studies in Education from the University of Pittsburgh and a B.S. in Psychology from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Both her current and previous research interests focus on developing a better understanding of how parent support  (e.g., focusing attention, providing explanation, and helping utilize relevant past shared experiences) changes what children learn from everyday and informal reasoning contexts.  Curriculum Vitae

Mike Robb

Mike is a third-year psychology graduate student interested in studying the impact of media on children.  His current research includes investigating the impact of baby DVDs on children's language acquisition.  He holds a B.A. from Tufts University in Child Development and an M.A. in psychology from University of California, Riverside. Curriculum Vitae

Erin Smith

Erin is about to enter her third year as a graduate student at UCR. Her research interests evaluate the intersection of the study of media and the study of children's involvement in fantasy. The motivating question to her research is how children grow to perceive information as socially-relevant, and how this translates into their daily lives-particularly with relation to media.
